In mid-2008, we went in search of a new boat because the one we had proved to be too fast. We wanted to enjoy the open air and, particularly, at a relaxed speed. We saw a Linssen Grand Sturdy® 29.9 AC berthed at the marina in Brouwershaven and we were immediately very impressed. As luck would have it, we cycled shortly afterwards past the offices of Linssen dealer Alexander Jonkers in Scharendijke. His infectious enthusiasm was so effective that we signed the purchase agreement for a Linssen Grand Sturdy® 29.9 AC within two weeks. Meanwhile, our own boat was for sale at a yacht broker. After six months, this broker had failed to attract a single potential buyer. Consequently, we transferred the boat to Alexander, who to our astonishment succeeded in selling it within three months for a very reasonable price, and in the middle of a credit crisis.

While our boat was being built, we visited the boatyard on several occasions with Alexander, and we were always struck by his professionalism. In late August, our Octavia was delivered, and needless to say Alexander Jonkers was present. After a week of trials near the boatyard, during which several small problems were corrected, we set off in the direction of Zeeland, our sailing area. It was again evident how good Alexander’s advice had been. We appreciated the fact that we had taken his advice and ordered the almost indispensable river package. And we deeply regretted the fact that we had disregarded his advice about the importance of an electric anchor winch.

In other words, a very positive and pleasant experience. Alexander knows how to make the best of a situation, even waiting a long time for your new boat.

We were looking for a motorboat. When we visited the Linssen Yachts stand at the 2007 Amsterdam Seaport Boat Show, we met Alexander Jonkers for the first time. The number of boats on display was dizzying and we simply didn’t know how to proceed. We’d never heard of Linssen before, but at Alexander’s invitation to visit the boatyard in Maasbracht, the penny dropped. We were deeply impressed by the boatyard. It is a splendidly organised operation! For some reason it really clicked between us, and by the end of our first visit we had ordered a Linssen Grand Sturdy® 40.9 AC. We’ve certainly not regretted our decision so far. Unfortunately, we won’t be taking receipt of the boat until November 2008, but we think our Linssen is worth the wait. We spent a week in Berlin on the same model of boat, which we chartered from Freewater. It convinced us that we had made the right choice in terms of model – spacious and with excellent sailing characteristics. In short, it is a very fine boat. We would like to wish Alexander every success in selling and servicing Linssen Yachts.

I was looking to purchase a fast but sturdy and comfortable sailboat. The splendid Faurby lines had already attracted my attention. At the Amsterdam Seaport Boat Show, I spied a Faurby 424, and on board were Alexander Jonkers, the owner and Niels-Peter Faurby. I was impressed by Alexander’s service-mindedness and customer-friendliness and by the thoroughness of the designer. The owner also expressed his satisfaction. After trying out the model in the Netherlands and a visit to the boatyard in Denmark with Alexander, I took the decision to order a Faurby 424. The boatyard delivers semi-custom work and I visited there a number of times while my boat was being built. Alexander then arranged a trial for my boat in Denmark, attended by the Dutch sailmaker Qauntum Sails. I’m now into my fifth season of sailing and I’m entirely satisfied with the boat and with Alexander’s maintenance service.

Some years ago we started to think of buying a new boat. We had always had sailboats, but now we wanted to try a motorboat. After reading the trade magazines and visiting various boat shows, we found ourselves intrigued by a Linssen Yacht. We contacted Alexander Jonkers at Jonkers Yachts, the Linssen dealer in South-West Netherlands.

Because we had been charmed by a Linssen Grand Sturdy® 33.9 AC and Alexander did not have one in his showroom in Scharendijke, he invited us to visit the boat show in Antwerp. We had a pleasant talk with him on board a 33.9 Sedan moored there. Alexander answered all our questions and his enthusiasm for Linssen was infectious. We soon closed the deal.

Our boat will be delivered in November 2008 and in the meantime we have twice visited the boatyard with Alexander. It is so much fun to see your own boat being built before your very eyes! Alexander immediately answered all our questions and attended to our every need. He certainly knows how to make his customers feel like royalty! We have been delighted with the entire process so far and look forward to taking receipt of our boat.

In the spring of 2008, we saw on the Internet a second-hand Etap 37s for sale in Scharendijke. We called and made an appointment with Alexander Jonkers, whom we had never met. As we live in Friesland where there are quite a lot of boats on sale, we didn't really know what to expect in Zeeland.

We travelled to Scharendijke and viewed the Etap. The outfitting and condition were in line with our expectations and - following a certain amount of bargaining and a lucid explanation from Alexander - we entered into an agreement the same day with the seller. Everything was laid down clearly in writing with resolutive conditions for both parties and supplementary clauses in the contract. We wanted to have the boat inspected, and this was also properly arranged.

Although it was busy when we were at Scharendijke, Alexander provided excellent assistance and he also ensured that the additions we requested were carried according to our wishes. He came across as an enthusiastic and expert businessman who knows what he's talking about. In short, it was pleasant doing business with him and we consider the Etap 37s to be a splendid and comfortable yacht.

We had our first boating experience two years ago, in the summer of 2006. We joined friends in chartering a motorboat and were immediately sold on boating. Before then I’d always avoided boating. It seemed like a gigantic waste of money to me.

But I changed my mind, and soon we were looking for a boat of our own. The first stop was the HISWA Boat Show, then we visited a few boatyards, then another boat show. At that point we felt overwhelmed by all the different makes and models. So we decided to buy a used boat, and quickly found what we were looking for. Although the dealer we purchased it from was not a Linssen agent, he had a good relationship with a young and enthusiastic Linssen dealer in the area, who agreed to instruct us and show us the ropes on our Grand Sturdy® 500 AC Variotop® MKII. Even though he had not sold us the boat, he was full of enthusiasm and devoted himself to instructing us properly. That’s why we feel right at home with Alexander and are happy to entrust our servicing and maintenance to him. We have long since become boating friends with him and his girlfriend Rolien and we are planning a boat trip to Britain together!

Alexander also organises annual cruises for his Linssen customers and we thoroughly enjoy them. Last year the cruise was in Belgium, with a bit of sea-going for the aficionados. This year we boated through Holland to Amsterdam and back again on the Vecht.

It is wonderful to have someone with so much expertise helping us manage and maintain our splendid boat. I think that Jonkers Yachts is a spectacular addition to the Linssen organisation!
